GIS Operative (52 week placement) at PlotBox

The role The purpose of this placement role is to contribute to the completion of all Mapping related tasks to satisfy our customers' needs and to the continuous innovation of the product. The GIS Operatives will report to the Mapping Team Manager and will work alongside a team of Engineers, Surveyors and GIS Technicians. Key responsibilities include: - Creation of georeferenced aerial mosaics. - Using Photoshop to alter TIFFs, PNGs and JPEGs. - Creating webmaps through the use of Arcmap, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online. - Design work using AutoCAD and Carlson survey Software. - Assisting Drone pilot to complete Aerial Image Surveys. - Use of GPS equipment to record Ground Control Points. - Surveying work with Ipad within cemeteries to capture headstone photos. - Surveying work with Total station within cemeteries. - Surveying work with 360 cameras. - Champion product consistency and support implementation of product standards . - Continuous innovation to improve current product capabilities. - General assistance to wider mapping team effort. Who we think will be a great fit We are looking for someone who has a great work ethic and who has the drive to go above and beyond for our customers and team members alike. You will be able to carry out the physical, as well as the intellectual, demands of the role and you will be a team player capable of work which is both fast paced and requires attention to detail. You will be working towards a degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering or Surveying or a GIS-related discipline and will also possess the following: - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Attention to detail whilst being able to work quickly through high-volume mapping - Flexibility to accommodate mapping trips where required in the UK and the USA (if travel is permitted during covid pandemic) Experience of the following is desirable: - Photoshop - Arcmap - ArcGIS Pro - AutoCAD - Python - G suite (mail, drive, hangout, docs) or Microsoft Office - Knowledge of GIS programming - GIS internships with experience in the field.
