Overview
The GIS Technician is an entry-level position. The successful candidate will work within the GIS team, which is one of the key teams within Mallon Technology. The main purpose of the role will be to carry out core GIS tasks and project work including data capture, image interpretation and reporting.
This is a remote/hybrid position. Successful candidates will be expected to be able to manage their workload and communicate effectively using online platforms, such as Teams, Outlook, Microsoft 365.
Duties and responsibilities
Data capture of spatial and attribute information according to established procedures
Interpretation of high-resolution imagery to determine variations in land cover
Digitising vector data
Problem solving
Prioritising work packages in line with the project schedule
Liaising with client team on query cases
Maintaining and improving quality standards
Working Hours
The working hours are 38.75 hours per week. Working hours are between 8.30am to 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 2.45pm on Friday. Flexibility with regard to start and finish times is possible in agreement with your line manager.
Location
Mallon Technology has a blended working policy which facilitates working from home, blended working, and working in the office.
The main office locations are in Portlaoise and Dublin.
Requirements
Required
Third level qualification in GIS, Remote Sensing, or qualification where GIS or Remote Sensing modules were completed.
Academic experience with GIS software and Microsoft Office 365
Excellent communication & written skills in English
Strong attention to detail
Time management & organizational skills
Desirable
Experience working with high-resolution imagery to determine variations in land cover
Internship on a similar role
Eligibility
Applicants must have current and valid permission to live and work in the Republic of Ireland, at the time of application.
