The recently awarded £9.6Million C-MAP project (Coastal Monitoring and Adaptation Planning) funded by the PEACEPLUS programme, has an ambitious programme of work which aims to develop new and sustainable approaches to managing coastal and marine environments in Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic of Ireland. The primary focus of the work at Ulster University is on monitoring and recording coastal change on both rock and mobile (sandy) coasts.Reporting to the PI, we are seeking two research assistants with a demonstrable understanding of physical processes of change on sandy and/or rocky coasts. As part of a dedicated team of field and lab workers, the postholders will be responsible for measuring and monitoring coastal geomorphological change using a variety of field techniques, storing and disseminating the data, and analysing and interpreting patterns of change. They will also participate in public engagement activities, including citizen science training and the dissemination of research findings.
