Howell Marine Consulting (HMC) are looking for Consultants to help us develop world class solutions to the major policy and management challenges facing our ocean in the UK and globally.

HMC deliver cutting edge work on Blue Economy planning and strategy, offshore energy, natural capital, ocean climate, fisheries management and transiting to a fair future. Current clients include Defra, Crown Estate, Welsh Government, Marine Scotland, Offshore Wind Industry Council, UNEP, UNDP, World Bank, and NERC.


You’ll play an important role in:

  • Supporting the delivery of key projects for HMC across all our work areas.

  • Representing HMC with the wider marine community through conferences, articles and blogs.

  • Supporting and learning from the HMC team on a wide range of consultancy assignments.

To succeed you’ll need:

  • Post graduate degree in relevant subject area.

  • Experience working in marine policy or management in the government, industry, NGO, consulting or academic sectors.

  • Experience working within or alongside intergovernmental, regional or national governmental bodies.

  • An ability to collaborate, influence and build highly effective client and stakeholder relationships.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to think strategically and innovatively and, to use your professional judgement decisively in decision making, informed by evidence.

Please note that this role will be UK home based although global travel may be required. The salary range for consultant grade is £30,000 – £40,000 commensurate with experience. For more information on HMC and the work we do please visit www.howellmarine.co.uk
