The London NERC Doctoral Training Partnership Applications are invited for our PhD programme, to start in September 2023. Are you interested in helping to solve some of the most pressing issues concerning the natural environment? Are you keen to develop advanced research skills that can equip you for a wide range of future careers? For these reasons and more, you may be an ideal candidate to apply for a studentship with the London NERC DTP.
The London NERC Doctoral Training Partnership brings together eight of the world’s leading research centres in environmental science. Our partnership provides you with the opportunity for innovative doctoral training in a multidisciplinary research environment and fosters links between centres of research excellence, spanning the Natural Environment Research Council’s (NERC) environmental science remit.
PhD studentships are available across a suite of research themes:
Biodiversity, Ecology & Conservation
Earth, Atmosphere & Ocean Processes
Environmental Hazards & Pollution
Environmental Physics & Mathematical Modelling
Evolution & Adaptation
Past Life & Environments
Solid Earth Dynamics

All applications will be anonymised prior to evaluation. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview in February 2023.
Eligibility: NERC funding is subject to candidates meeting UKRI-NERC eligibility criteria and we also encourage eligible international applicants. There are options for part-time and flexible study.

If you are interested in applying for a London NERC DTP studentship to start in 2023, we are holding an informal Q&A evening webinar on 1st December 2022 from 18:00 GMT. Join us online to hear from staff and current students about their experiences and to have any queries answered about the DTP or the application process. We welcome potential applicants to submit questions beforehand.
