Job Summary
Working across the Mourne Gullion Strangford Global Geopark and Strangford and Lecale AONB the postholder will be responsible for successfully developing and delivering a volunteer programme with key partners in line with several funded projects and Council initiatives. This role will fulfil the requirements and have overall responsibility of volunteer and in-kind match funding detailed within the environment fund application. The AONB and Geopark Volunteer and Outreach Officer will promote the AONB and Geopark vision and be responsible for the achievement of volunteering targets within the AONB and Geopark. The postholder will promote awareness, understanding and instil pride in the communities around the AONB and Geopark and be an active contributor to the relevant management groups and partnerships. The postholder will work with local communities, key stakeholders and local authorities across the AONB and Geopark, developing volunteering capacity, building and maintaining community and stakeholder relationships, and help people contribute to our heritage’s healthy future through active volunteer participation.
Hours of work 36 hours per week.The post holder must be prepared to work outside normal office hours, including evenings, weekends, and Public and extra Statutory Holidays for which the appropriate payment will be made or time in lieu granted if relevant.
Duration of Appointment Temporary until 31 March
Pattern Flexi 36 hours Monday to Friday. Hours of work are kept under review and may change in order to meet operational requirements, providing requisite notice.Location Location is Crossmaglen Community Centre or Downpatrick.Whilst the current vacant post is based in Crossmaglen Community Centre or Downpatrick, suitable candidates who are placed on a reserve list may be offered a similar post in other Council locations. The post holder may be required to transfer to other locations in accordance with any requirements stated in the Job Description, any reviews of service delivery or other requirements as may arise from time to time. Any amendments made to work location will be implemented following appropriate consultation and provision of reasonable notice. Salary SO1 SCP 25-27, currently £33,945 - £35,745 per annum based on a 36 hour week (pro rata to hours worked).
