Metocean Engineer


TechWorks Marine has an immediate opening for a Metocean Engineer to join our team as we grow in the Marine Renewable sector in Europe.


We are looking for a dynamic person with at least 2-3 years professional experience in marine survey operations. The ideal candidate should be pro-active, self-motivated individual, team player/leader, capable of working independently. Someone looking to progress their career within this exciting and growing sector who possesses proven commercial experience.


We are looking for a dynamic person who will have:

  • A Degree in Science, Engineering (Electronics/Mechanical)

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the marine survey sector or in engineering

  • Experience working at sea on boats (Multicats and small work boats)

  • Experience at preparing method statements for marine survey operations and risk assessments.

  • High level of professionalism and good communications skills.

  • Pro-active and flexible due to the nature of marine surveys.

  • Experience at using Oceanographic sensors (ADCP’s, Wave Sensors, CTD’s and Tide Gauges)

  • Good IT skills (MS Office)

  • Fluent in English

You main duties will be:

  • Participate in the preparation, deployment and delivery of our Marine Survey contracts.

  • Assist in the ongoing calibration and maintenance of our Metocean equipment pool, including Data Buoy Platforms and Maintenance of Seabed Frames.

  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation and field reports for our clients.

  • Prepare survey reports.

  • Work with the embedded development team to integrate Metocean platforms.

  • Ensure our survey activities adhere to the latest EU and industry standards.

  • Full driver & powerboat license and suitable certifications for working on water.

Your skills/experience will include:

  • Preparation of Metocean equipment for surveys

  • Knowledge of operating and troubleshooting Oceanographic equipment.

  • Working to firm deadlines whilst being flexible to schedule changes.

  • Full driver & powerboat license and suitable certifications for working on water.

The position is based out of our offices in Dun Laoghaire, and will involve travel primarily in Ireland and Europe. We offer:
