TerraQuest Belfast, GIS Summer Positions

About the Role

We require Technicians to be based in our Belfast City Centre office to cover the summer period. These temporary positions would be suitable for a student looking ‘summer work’ between university years. Ideally we would require some exposure to GIS but this is not necessary essential providing you can demonstrate an aptitude/interest in the same. The role involves working on both project and service related contracts across the business including the processing of planning applications through validation processes and our market leading land referencing services. Technicians work as part of teams in areas as diverse as processing planning applications to analysing, processing and capturing ownership and occupation data, including spatial data using a geographic information system (GIS), and extensive communication and interaction with stakeholders from the general public, planning professionals and our clients. Technicians are also required to occasionally undertake visits to sites throughout the UK.


About You

You will be looking to enter a career with an industry leader and have an interest in some or all of our key sectors which include planning, geography, land, property and construction sectors. You will be gaining knowledge and experience in working on some of the UK’s major infrastructure projects along with industry leading outsourced planning services.

You will possess good multimedia communication skills and will be able to liaise with team members, clients and members of the public.


You will possess some or all of the following:

  • the ability to read plans and maps;

  • a basic understanding of geography;

  • proficiency in MS Office suite and use of internet;

  • the ability to organise own workload and be able to work autonomously;

  • the ability to work to deadlines and within a team environment;

  • attention to accuracy and detail;

  • exposure to/experience of Geographic Information Systems;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • Confident in dealing with difficult customers and achieving positive outcomes.

An ideal candidate will also have:

  • a 'can do' attitude, consistently delivering to time, quality and cost;

  • ability to deliver excellent customer service at all times;

Job Type: Full-time


Required experience:

  • Geography background would be an advantage: 1 year

Job Types: Fixed term summer period contract

Salary: £20,155.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

  • Monday to Friday
