Description Location: Derry~Londonderry Term: Fixed term until 31/07/2023 Hours: 35 per week Salary: £19,279 per annum Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone – communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people’s health, prospects, and outdoor places. The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) are seeking a Project Assistant to help deliver a programme of food growing activities in Derry~Londonderry as part of the Acorn Farm Project, which will support people to tackle climate change hands-on by growing their own food and learning about how their food choices affect the environment. TCV’s role in the Acorn Farm Project involves supporting 200 households/families across the Derry City and Strabane District Council area to grow food at home, beginning the creation of a more sustainable food system. Location and geographical area The post is based at TCV’s office at Brooke Park in Derry~Londonderry, where TCV has new purpose-built premises including office, training room, workshop, and a garden with polytunnels. Main activities The main activities the Project Assistant will undertake are as follows: 1) Help to grow vegetable plants, including planting, care, and watering. 2) Help to construct wooden planters for the Acorn Farm Grow at home project. 3) Deliver compost and planters to Acorn Farm participants across the Derry City Council area. 4) Help to deliver Horticulture Training courses to garden owners and the general public. 5) Help to promote the project.
