OPTION 1: CURRENT MODEL (THE WAY IT IS NOW)

Dissertaiton assessment in 3 semesters.

Why change? High workload, some staff don't engage.
Year 2: Semester 2 - Proposal

Year 3: Semester 1 - Lit review and Poster in EGM534 | Semester 2 - Dissertation submission.

OPTION 2: STREAMLINED MODEL (THE WAY IT WAS 10 YEARS AGO)

Dissertation assessment in 2 semesters.

Why was this model abandoned? Students often didn't engage in semester 1 of final year and performed poorly in dissertation module.

Year 2: Semester 2 - Proposal

Year 3: Semester 1 - Nothing. Replace EGM534 with subject-specific module. | Semester 2: Dissertation - desktop based.

OPTION 3: VERY STREAMLINED MODEL (THE NO FIELDWORK FOR STUDENTS MODEL)

Dissertation assessment in 1 semester.

Downside of this model? No fieldwork based dissertations. ~33% of our students currently do fieldwork based dissertations.
Year 2: Semester 2 - Nothing

Year 3: Semester 1 - Nothing. Replace EGM534 with subject-specific module. | Semester 2: Dissertation.
